What's the best way to test whether or not scoring is being used? (Inform 7)

The way I came up with to approximate this is "if the maximum score is 0" vs. "if the maximum score is not 0." Is that the most direct way or is there a better one?

The typical way to check if a use option is active, as outlined in ยง27.18, is:

if the scoring option is active

And, for the reverse:

if the scoring option is not active
