Where are some good places to find ratings and reviews?

The IFDB has lots of reviews and star ratings.

Another place you can check for reviews is IFWiki, especially if the game you're looking for was entered in a competition. The competition's page on IFWiki (for instance, the IFComp 2013 page) will often have links to reviews for the games.

You can also check the IFRO website.
